Please join Lyon in welcoming Russ Swearingen to speak Thursday November 21 in the Nucor Auditorium (Lyon Building). Russ Swearingen has spent the past six years with City Year in Providence, Rhode Island (2009-11) and in Little Rock, Arkansas (2008, 2011-present) where he currently serves as Program and Service Director. In returning to Little Rock, Russ is helping drive the organization in its ambitious long-term impact strategy aimed at challenging the status quo for students in urban settings, dramatically increasing the graduation pipeline, and transforming the future for Little Rock students by ensuring they enter the 10th grade ‘on time and on track.’ Russ directs a team of school-based program staff who manage City Year’s 44 Americorps members in Little Rock. Additionally, he is responsible for cultivating school and community partnerships as well as ensuring the program’s overall performance and outcomes. Russ is a native of Rogers, Arkansas and a 2004 graduate from Lyon College with degrees in History and Religion/Philosophy. In 2009 Russ completed his Master of Public Service degree from the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. He and his wife Lara - also a Lyon College alumna - currently reside in Little Rock.
